Ben wanted to bring Dar to eat something different from the usual fare that they have been eating during lunch in the CBD area, so they decided to venture to Toa Payoh for western food.
In case you aren’t aware, this whimsically-themed cafe at the basement of Toa Payoh Hub Food Court serves “five-star Western food in a food court”. They even have daily specials where certain dishes from their menu are sold at a special price of $5.50!
Check out our sumptuous four-course meal:
#1: Cream of Mushroom
Complimentary soup that came with the Chicken Chop set ($5.50). Decent, but oh wells, what can you expect with such prices?

#2: Onion Rings ($4.50)
This was rather disappointing, as we were at least expecting Burger King’s standard. Not made from real onions, this tasted more like the frozen onion rings that one can easily get at supermarkets. Ben suggests going for the Tony Roma’s (even though its more oily, but it would at least ensure you’re getting the actual onion-licious goodness)

#3: Grilled Chicken Chop
With the exception of the small serving portion, the chicken was nicely grilled and they managed to retain the tenderness and juicyness of the chicken meat. The mushroom sauce that accompanied was also good, Dar couldnt resist eating the mashed potato that came with it!

#4: Creamy Fish Pasta ($7.50)
Now this was quite good - the pasta was of the right texture and the sauce had this creamy yet not too cloying taste. The dory fish slices were also tender and melted in your mouth!

We would still rate our subsequent visits to With a Pinch of Salt satisfactory. Indeed, they are not to be taken with a pinch of salt. Will be back.
